Semi-Pro Soccer Round-Up 6/6/21

All three of Washington’s local semi-pro leagues were in action this weekend. The Evergreen Premier League (EPLWA) played out their second match week of the season.

 

Yakima United 6, Vancouver Victory 1

Hector Valdovinos came off the bench in the 68th minute and scored a second half hat trick to lead Yakima United to a 6-1 victory over Vancouver at SOZO Sports. Jose Marquez opened the scoring in the 8th minute for Yakima and had the assist to Johnny Ramirez on an 18th minute goal to give United a 2-0 lead. Vancouver cut the lead to one when Daniel Alfred scored in the 28th, but it was all Yakima after that. Juan Antonio Lopez made it 3-1 before halftime and then Valdovinos put the game well out of reach in the second half.

Yakima moved to 2-0-0 in the South Division with a 9-2 goal differential two games in while Vancouver dropped to 1-1-0.

Oly Town Artesians 2, Tacoma Narrows 1

The Oly Town Artesians completed a late comeback when Tino Pantaleon scored the game winner in the 88th minute to knock off Tacoma Narrows 2-1 at Black Hills High School. Tacoma opened the scoring in the 11th with a strike by Eddie Na. Goalkeepers Julian Taffola (Tacoma) and Sawyer Price (Oly Town) made numerous saves to keep the score 1-0 until Max Hauser equalized for Oly in the 70th minute before Pantaleon’s game winner just before the death.

The Artesians moved to 1-1-0 on the season while Tacoma Narrows dropped to 0-2-0.

Bellingham United 4, PacNW 0

Cam Miller scored two first half goals for Bellingham United in their 4-0 win over PacNW at Whatcom Community College’s Orca Field. Miller opened the scoring thanks to an assist from Richard Henderson in the 34th minute and then added his second near halftime off of a Christian Caro assist. Connor Steward and Uriel Herrera each added a goal in the second half and Hector Gutierrez made seven saves to post his second shutout of the season.

Bellingham moved to 2-0-0 in the North and has yet to allow a goal while PacNW is 0-1-0 after their first game of the season.

Washington Premier 3, Everett Jets 0

Washington Premier and the Everett Jets battled to a scoreless first half before Eric Bunnell scored twice and notched an assist to lead WA Premier to a 3-0 win in Puyallup. Bunnell got the scoring going quickly in the second half taking a pass from Brandon Gonzalez to make it 1-0 in the 47th minute. It took another half an hour to get the insurance goal Bunnell slotting one home on an assist by Alec LaBarge. Bunnell then returned the favor assisting on LaBarge’s 78th minute goal. Brandon Limes posted a shutout for Washington.

Washington Premier opened the season and are now 1-0-0 in the North. Everett are still looking for their first EPLWA win and goal and are 0-2-0 in the early going.
